The GTHL announced its alignment with Hockey Canada, the OHF and Respect Group Inc. to provide the Respect in Sport on-line educational tool.  The Respect in Sport on-line program is recognised as an equivalent to the Speak Out / Prevention Services clinic.  The cost of the on-line course is $30.00

This is a 3 hour on-line program that is divided into 6 - 30 minute modules that include audio/visual presentations, quizzes, and printable handouts.  One of the great benefits of the program is that it does not need to be completed in one sitting, and can be completed in intervals at your leisure ( must be within a 30 day timeframe).  Please note that you will not be certified until you have completed the entire program.

Police Check Information
September 20, 2012

All Team Officials need to complete a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (in compliance with Hockey Canada regulations) and a "Community Organization and Volunteer Authorization Letter".  There is only one way to complete a Criminial Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS).

Peel Residents:

You must to pick up a Criminal Reference Check form and "Community Organization and Volunteer Authorization Letter" at the MHL office located at 3065 Ridgeway Drive, Unit 34 in Mississauga, Ontario during regular business hours.

Once you pick up the forms, you have two options in submitting the forms to the Peel Regional Police.

Option 1:  The quickest option is to use the "paid" option.  Once the forms are filled out, the volunteer goes to the Peel Regional Headquarters (located at 7750 Hurontario Street) in Brampton.  Here, the volunteer will submit the two forms and show identification as required and will ask for the "paid" option to expedite the process.  At this time, the volunteer will be notified immediately if fingerprinting is required.  The volunteer will pay $45.00 payable to the Peel Regional Police.  If fingerprinting is required, the volunteer can then set up an appointment.  Once fingerprinting is completed, the volunteer can expect to receive their completed Criminal Reference Check with VSS back in approximately 8 weeks.  If no fingerprinting is required, the volunteer can expect to receive their completed Completed Criminal Reference Check with VSS in approximately 7 - 10 days.

Using the "paid" option, volunteers can only submit their forms to the Peel Regional Police Headquarters:

Peel Regional Police Headquarters 7750 Hurontario Street Brampton, Ontario (905) 453-2121 ext.4338 Mon. - Fri. 8am - 6pm and Saturday 10am - 2pm

Option 2:  The other option is to use the "free" option (residents of Peel Region).  Once the forms are filled out, the volunteer would drop off the form at one of the locations listed below.  Here, the volunteer will submit the two forms and show identification as requried.  The processing time for submitting the Criminal Reference Check with VSS will take approximately 6 - 9 weeks.  If fingerprints are required, the volunteer will be notified via mail within approximately 6 - 9 weeks.  At that time, the volunteer will have to call the phone number contained in the letter and set up a fingerprinting appointment.  Once the fingerprints have been completed, it will take approximately 8 weeks to receive a completed Criminal Reference Check with VSS back from Peel Regional Police.  As indicated, this option can take 4 - 6 months if fingerprinting is required.  If no fingerprints are needed, the volunteer will receive their completed Criminal Reference Check with VSS in approximately 6 - 9 weeks.

If using the "free" option, the forms can be completed and returned to any one of the following locations (see back of Police Check form for additional locations:

Peel Regional Police Headquarters 7750 Hurontario Street Brampton, Ontario (905) 453-2121 ext.4338 Mon. - Fri. 8am - 6pm and Sat. 10am - 2pm
