Ed Armstrong Scholarship Award - now accepting applications
June 21, 2010

The MHL is currently accepting applications for the Ed Armstrong Scholarship Award.  In the 1999-2000 season, the MHL announced the creation of Ed Armstrong Scholarship Award.  Each season, a number of scholarships of up to one thousand dollars ($1,000) each will be awarded to eligible individuals.  The award is named in memory of Mr. Ed Armstrong who was made a Life Member of the MHL for his contributions to minor hockey in Mississauga.  Ed was one of the stalwarts of the Malton Hockey Association and, between Malton and the MHL, was involved with the League for over 40 years. 

The application deadline is July 31st, 2010.

MHL Ticket Incentive Program
April 27, 2010

The Mississauga Hockey League is offering a ticket incentive program to current registered players for the 2010-11 season. Any players who are currently registered and “SPONSOR” or "REFER" another NEW player into the League will receive TEN GATE PASSES for use during the 2010-11 regular season and playoffs.

Who is an Eligible Sponsor (sponsor means to "refer" another player)?

  • Any player of family currently registered with the MHL

 Who are the Eligible New Players?

  • Any new player ages Tyke to Peewee inclusive.
  • New Players cannot be a family member or live with an existing registered player/family
  • New Players must be a Mississauga resident.
  • New Players must never have been registered with the MHL before.
  • An individual can "Sponsor" more than one "New" player.

OHF Bursary Program

Applications for the OHF Bursary Program are now available.  The OHF Bursary Program will provide $26,000 in financial assistance to OHF registered participants to help offset the cost of post secondary education.

GTHL Scholarships - Open to Midget House League and Midget 'A' Players

The GTHL is accepting applications for the Len Barrett Midget House League Scholarship and the Frank D. Smith Midget 'A' Scholarship. 

The Len Barrett Midget House League Scholarship Award was established in 2005 to recognize a Midget House League player who achieves a high standard of excellence academically and in hockey.  Len was the Treasurer of the GTHL from 1975 to 1994 and was made an honorary life member of the GTHL in 1995.  Len was also the first Treasurer of the OHF. 

Frank D. Smith Scholarship Award was created to recognize a Midgert 'A' Player who achieves a high standard of excellence academically and in hockey.  Frank D. Smith was the founder of the T.H.L. (the predecessor of the GTHL) in 1911.  He remained the Secretary of the league for 50 years, until 1961.  He started many programs that exist today in the GTHL including the King Clancy Tournaemnt.  Frank was inducted into the Builder's Category of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961. 

These applications require letters of reference, official school transcript, current marks, and any other supporting documents indicated in the application.  Applications are due no later than Wednesday, March 10, 2010.  Any incomplete applicaions will not be considered.

Minor Novice Program
September 8, 2009

The MHL and its 8 Area Associations agreed to changes regarding the format of the Minor Novice House League program for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. Following the succesful run of the pilot project in the first season, the Minor Novice Program will be completed at the end of the 2009-10 season.  At that time, the MHL and 8 Area Associations will determine feasiblity of the Program moving forward.

Play-More Assistance Program
September 8, 2009


 

The Mississauga Hockey League and its eight member Associations are proud to announce the Play-More Program, a program that assists players unable to participate due to severe financial constraints. The Program addresses the cost of playing hockey and enhancing player experiences.

Assistance from the Play-More program provides any eligible resident hockey player with the opportunity to play hockey at all competition levels.
